Η Ιερά Μονή Σωσίνου-Ευαγγελίστρας

Η Ιερά Μονή Σωσίνου-Ευαγγελίστρας

      Ψηλά στην κορυφή ενός κωνικού λόφου, του λόφου «Σώσινο» και σε υψόμετρο 750 περίπου μέτρων είναι χτισμένο το ομώνυμο μοναστήρι ``Σωσίνου ή της Παναγίας της Ευαγγελίστρας``

      Μια ιστορία οκτώ ολόκληρων αιώνων,  γεμάτη Ελληνισμό και Χριστιανισμό,  είναι γραμμένη στην κοιλάδα του Άνω Καλαμά,  στην  ιστορική και ξακουστή Πογδόριανη, σήμερα περιοχή Παρακάλαμου, με επίκεντρο την ιστορική Μονή Σωσίνου.  Διαβάζοντας κανείς τους ιστορικούς και μελετητές,  νοιώθει  πραγματικά δέος για το παρελθόν,  συνάμα όμως γεμίζει περηφάνια για το ρόλο που διαδραμάτισε το μοναστήρι στους παλιούς και δύσκολους για τον τόπο καιρούς.  Το μοναστήρι του Σωσίνου με την ονομαστή και ακμάζουσα σ` αυτό σχολή,  λόγω και της επιβλητικής του θέσεως αποτέλεσε,  πραγματικά,  προπύργιο της Ορθοδοξίας και του Ελληνισμού,  όχι μόνο για την περιοχή αλλά και ευρύτερα....
